NOVEMBER 2016 – “Founded in 1980, IFMA (International Facility Management Association) is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for facility management professionals, supporting 24,000 members in 104 countries. IFMA’s World Workplace is a hands-on, interactive learning and networking event for professionals who support all aspects of the work environment.”
This year, we had the pleasure of representing the San Diego Chapter of IFMA at IFMA’s World Workplace Conference & Expo 2016 hosted at the San Diego Convention Center. Our goal was to make sure that everyone enjoyed their time here! We had some amazing brews provided by Karl Straus and Stone Brewery onsite, and welcomed everyone to our booth with beach balls and our fun-in-the-sun t-shirts, which were a huge hit! We couldn’t have been more grateful to have Facilities Managers from all over the world including Nigeria, England, Switzerland, and Canada join us in Southern California for this amazing time of learning and growing together in our industry. We’re sure that everyone had an amazing time at the conference, and were able to unwind a bit at our booth.
After a great day of education and walking through the expo, IFMA hosted the Facilities Managers at various locations throughout San Diego. LaBahn’s Landscaping was able to attend the Welcome Reception on the USS Midway, where we enjoyed some amazing drinks and desserts, and everyone was able to take a tour and learn about some of the history of our men and women who have served our country here in Southern California. The following evening, the West Coast Chapters of IFMA, which stretches up the coast of California, hosted the West Coast Reception. Here, we had the opportunity to meet more of our fellow IFMA members, and get to know them through a fun ice breaker game of People Bingo. We had to find members who had never been to Disneyland and even who had never been on a plane! We enjoyed our time together and getting to know those in our industry better.
At LaBahn’s Landscaping, we are always seeking to better our company, our service, and ourselves. We enjoy going to events such as IFMA where we not only receive the best information and education, but we also get to interact with Facilities Managers throughout San Diego County. It’s a refreshing experience to see how other companies run their businesses, and also opens our eyes to learning new ways of improving what we do. The interaction we gain through IFMA is so valuable to us because we get to expand who we are as people, and expand our knowledge of the ever evolving work environment of being a Facilities Manager.
