JANUARY 2017 – This year I had the joy and honor of serving as the President of the San Diego Chapter of CAI. It was a challenging and exciting role for me, and an amazing opportunity to grow and learn with all of our fellow members. I am so thankful to everyone who supported me in my role as President, and I could not have done it without their constant support, encouragement and excitement!
For anyone who doesn’t know, CAI is the Community Associations Institute, and its members are made up of service professionals as well as HOA members. The purpose of CAI is to provide education and resources to community association homeowner leaders, professional managers, association management companies and other businesses and professionals who provide products and services to community associations.
As service professionals and CAI members, it is our goal to enhance the lives and experiences of everyone who lives in HOAs, as well as make a difference in our communities. Some highlights from this past year include seeing increased involvement and attendance at our meetings, revamping our website & adding online registration, enhancing the content & increasing the production of our Community Insider Magazine, and doubling our donations from 2015!
Together, we were able to serve our community by volunteering with Feeding America and Stand Up For Kids. Our volunteers spent a day sorting food for Feeding America to be distributed to the poverty population. We also collected donations throughout San Diego this holiday season to be given to Stand Up For Kids, a local organization that helps homeless children. If you would like more information for either of these organizations, you can visit their websites – Feeding America and Stand Up For Kids.
As I reflect on this past year as President, I know that I couldn’t have done it without the support and suggestions from all of our members and hard working CAI staff. I am so thankful for this rewarding experience and am excited to keep the momentum rolling for next year. I invite you to join me in the excitement and consider getting involved in CAI San Diego in 2017 – it’s going to be the best year yet!
If you would like more information about CAI and/or would like to join, please visit the website CAI San Diego and see what is happening on Facebook. From our family at LaBahn’s and the members of CAI to yours, we wish you a Happy New Year!
